A Bit About Us

Founded by Ronald and Kristin Courts in 2016, Notes and Books is a professional Private Lessons Service that’s proud to offer training in piano, guitar and voice.  Academic tutoring for students in grades PK- 6 is offered as well.  In addition proofreading and editing services are available for all of your professional needs.  Both Ronald and Kristin have extensive experience in their respective fields of music instruction and education.   Notes and Books is proud to provide services to clients throughout the Hampton Roads area. Great service begins and ends with experienced and friendly professionals. We aim to not only meet your needs, but also exceed your expectations of what a dependable Private Lessons Service can be. We are here to help you learn, excel and grow!

Music or Voice  Lessons

We'd love to teach you to play the piano, strum a guitar or belt out some impressive notes here at Notes and Books. We understand how important it is to feel confident when it comes to performing your craft whether for an audience of 1 or 1,000. Ronald is well prepared for any unique challenges or special concerns our clients may have. With over 15 years of experience, we are ready to help you reach your personal goals! No experience necessary.

Academic Tutoring

Whether looking to improve comprehension in a certain subject, prepare for an upcoming assignment or test or simply keep skills sharp, Notes and Books is at your service. We work closely with teachers and parents  to tackle just about every type of need our clients have academically, no matter how big or small it may be.

Proofing and Editing

Are you an author that needs your work proofread? Perhaps you are a student who would like some help editing an essay or term paper? Are you submitting a professional document that needs to be error free? We would love to proof your work or help you edit content. Help is just a click away!

Special Programs Contract

If you are a program coordinator and are looking to provide enrichment for the participants, consider Notes and Books! Based on the needs of your program, we will design activities or instruction in music or a general curriculum area (science, history, math, language arts, etc. ) and come to you!

Marcus attends weekly tutoring sessions where he participates in activities to help him develop a love for learning that will carry over to formal schooling. He is working to learn how to play the piano also. Mr. Courts provides individualized lessons to help Marcus develop his skills and nurture his passion for music.
